BioInnovation Awards 2011

The BioInnovation Awards is an initiative by the Malaysian Association of Research Scientists, BiotechCorp and PROTEMP Exhibitions to honour scientists and researchers from the private and public sector for outstanding achievements in research and development of biotechnology. This year’s Awards will be expanding in new and exciting ways, in tandem with the aggressive development goals of the Malaysian Biotechnology Policy which has driven the growth of small and medium biotechnology enterprises in Malaysia.

In the year of 2010, the Awards received more than 200 entries and awarded 38 Gold Awards, 51 Silver Awards and 59 Bronze Awards. Four individuals received the top prizes in four categories, which were Woman BioInnovator of the Year, Most Promising Innovation, Most Innovative Award and Biotechnology Innovation of the Year. The Awards had participation from universities, research institutions, and the public and private sector.

The categories for the Awards include:

  1. Agriculture/Agro-based
  2. Industry Industrial Research
  3. Medical Research
  4. Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals
  5. Waste to Wealth

Winners of the Awards will be eligible to participate in international innovation competitions in Kuwait, Geneva and Korea. The judges will be comprised of a panel of international experts, and this is an excellent opportunity for participants to include successful business entrepreneurs, potential investors, and renowned scientists in their business network.
